I’ve been driving this particular road every Thursday morning for a couple of months now. Route 29 takes me right through the Manassas Battlefield. While I sit in traffic I’ve seen so many interesting images in my head, and hadn’t actually taken out my camera to shoot any of them. “WHY?” Because its pretty hard to drive and shoot images, that’s why.

I keep my Nikon Coolpix P7000 in the car 5 days a week. (Read Monday thru Friday) and when an opportunity presents itself I just snap images away. Most of them are pretty lame, this particular one certainly isn’t top notch, but I like it.

This photo was shot early morning near the Manassas Battlefield. I’ve passed this spot several times and had hoped that one day I’d be stuck in traffic exactly where I was. Well I was stuck in traffic, whipped out my handy Nikon Coolpix P7000 and let ‘er rip. I still think the P7000 takes WAY to long to write to disk. But heck I was stuck in traffic I wasn’t going anywhere. The image was actually edited on my iPad using that ever so popular Snapseed.

I was fortunate enough to be asked to photograph a Mother Daughter Christmas Tea. This occasion was really special, Mother and Daughters taking time to be away from those grumpy old men folk. Thankfully I was one of two “boys” that were invited, the most important one of course was Santa Claus. The image below doesn’t really do justice to Santa Claus. I can tell you this, I was throughly convinced that I actually got to shake THE Santa Claus’ hand.

During a “break” in shooting I had some great conversation that led to discussing photography techniques for shooting landscapes. After I threw in my two cents the gentelman I was speaking with blurted out “+Scott Kelby right, I own a most of his books” I just smiled and responded that Scott has been my “mentor”, he just doesn’t know it. I like to think that I’m the ONLY one that reads and studies +Scott Kelby ‘s books. Its like my own little secret. Well guess that “Scott” is out of the bag now. Oh and +Glyn Dewis he’s my other “secret” mentor, he just doesn’t know it either!

This time it happens to be an antique sewing machine. I did a little “work” on this one using Niksoft’s HDR. I gotta admit I love it, of course I used it in conjunction with Photoshop. I will spare you all the details. I will probably end up doing a Photoshop tutorial on it at some point.

No excuses just my day job tends to weigh on me, as such I’m not able to shoot as often as I’d like to. Today however I dropped my car off to get new tires and was walking back to the office. Thankfully I’m only about 4 blocks away. As I was nearing my office building I was pretty impressed with the way the clouds were reflecting off of it. Well as luck would have it I didn’t have my trusty camera with me. So I did the next best thing. I whipped out my cell phone and took a shot. I actually tried to compose as best I could but the glare made it a little difficult. (Note to myself. don’t leave the office without your camera.) So here the shot, honestly not to bad for a cell phone camera which happen to be a G2X.

Well its been awhile since we’ve actually posted an image that didn’t come with a tutorial. But there is a lesson here, so don’t fret. :-) I had the most AWESOME time at a birthday party this past weekend in a Central Virginia. The guest of honor had her birthday party at a super cool little farm with – you guest it Ponies. There wasn’t just ponies that this here party. No Sirre! There were also ducks, three of that I think. So here are two of them, – oh the lesson. Where there are ponies there are ducks. (Yeah I know that makes no sense at all, but maybe if you take just a bit of time and take in your surroundings you will see there is more than just what you “thought” was there)
